What's the news?
Honda Ireland is recalling 824 Jazz and Insight models as part of the Takata airbag controversy that so far has claimed six lives and resulted in a global recall that affected millions of cars from manufacturers Toyota, Nissan, and Honda.
The Honda recall relates to a potential problem with the front driver air bag inflator. The airbag could deploy abnormally in a crash, sending shrapnel into the cabin and possibly causing serious injury. Jazz and Insight models sold between 2007 to 2011 are affected.
Honda Ireland will be contacting the owners of all affected vehicles by mail and asking them to take their vehicle to a Honda dealer or authorised repairer. All works will be carried out at no cost to the owner.
