Aston Martin Vulcan to run at Spa

Exclusive track-only car will be shown at iconic Belgian circuit.

What's the news?

When it comes to track cars there is little more exclusive, nor expensive, nor powerful as the Aston Martin Vulcan. Even parked in the paddock is creates a spectacle, from its low sleek nose to its oversized rear wing, massive rear diffuser and let's not forget those side-exiting exhausts. Other incredible details include the three-dimensional rear lights that extend into individual points. Under the bonnet lurks a naturally aspirated 7.0-litre V12 engine that produces over 800hp and sends its power through an Xtrac six-speed sequential shift transmission to the rear wheels.

As part of the Blancpain Endurance Series, the TOTAL 24 Hours of Spa, at Spa Francorchamps, the Vulcan will complete two flying laps of the Belgian circuit. The lucky driver will be Darren Turner, a highly experienced racer who has been involved in the design and development of the car from day one.

"It's been amazing to have been involved in this project from the beginning," said Turner. "From the conceptual sketches through to working with the designers on driver ergonomics, it is a fascinating process to be part of. It was very early days for the car when we first ran it at Goodwood Festival of Speed, but we certainly made a good impression and now we get to show the car in its most natural environment. I'm looking forward to our laps prior to the race and then being able to watch one of the best 24-hour events on the calendar."

Anything else?

If you fancy bagging one the 24 Vulcans planned for production you'll need to get your skates on. Aston Martin has said that several of the cars are already accounted for despite officially not opening any sales channels yet. If you want to be part of this exclusive club it will cost you a cool €2 million plus tax.
