What's the news?
Known for their wood, leather, aluminum and six-year waiting list, Morgans generally don't go in much for modern (or at least that's what the company likes us to think). So you'll be expecting this 50-strong limited edition model, to celebrate the 65th birthday of the Plus 4 model, to be pretty traditional - a special wicker picnic basket perhaps?
Not quite. In fact, Morgan has turned the cars over to AR Motorsports, which is building them from the ground up to be the ultimate road/track Morgans. They get new rear suspension, with a five-link setup replacing the traditional leaf springs, and fully adjustable dampers all-round. There's even a rear-diffuser to help keep the back end tied down in high-speed corners.
Under that long, aluminum bonnet there's a new 2.0-litre Cosworth engine with 225hp, which should push the 900kg Morgan from 0-100km/h in a little over six seconds. Inside, the interior has been pared back even further than normal, with lots of exposed aluminum panels, ash wood trim and ribbed leather seats.
Prices start from STG£54,995 (€77,730) but if you want one, you'd better get your order in quick.
