Suzuki Baleno gets mild hybrid tech

Further details on new Suzuki Baleno - including 'hybrid' technology.

What's the news?

A handful of extra details here on the Suzuki Baleno, due for a debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show later this month and which we've already reported on in recent weeks.

So, we knew about the absurdly-named BoosterJet 1.0-litre engine, but Suzuki has also revealed that the Baleno will be a very mild hybrid - the engine will be assisted by an integrated starter generator, which the company calls Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki (SHVS). The Japanese firm is also claiming the Baleno has a 'rigid, lightweight new generation platform'.

Suzuki also says that the 'Baleno has an elegant and powerful design, a spacious cabin and luggage space plus a host of new technologies', but apart from this marketing bumf we won't know anything more concrete about the car until it is unveiled in Germany in a few weeks' time.

Anything else?

Frankfurt IAA runs from September 15-27 this year.
