Skoda gets starring role in Irish thriller

We always reckoned the Octavia RS could hold its own in a car chase.

What's the news?

What have Brendan Gleeson, Liam Cunningham and Ruth Bradley all got in common? Yes, all fine actors, winners of awards and a credit to their profession and now all about to be upstaged by a Skoda.

There's a new Irish crime thriller about to come out, called Pursuit, and if that doesn't give you some idea that the bright red Skoda Octavia RS is the true star of the film, then nothing else will. Set in Connemara (great driving roads) and the Costa del Sol (slightly fewer great driving roads), Pursuit is "the legend of Diarmuid and Gráinne; a tale of love, betrayal, revenge and the pursuit of a life beyond crime, which features car chases galore."

Skoda will be using its silver screen role to promote the arrival of the new Octavia RS 230, which gets the 230hp engine and limited slip differential as also used by the Volkswagen Golf GTI Performance Pack. Speaking about the new model, Raymond Leddy, Head of Marketing and Product at ŠKODA Ireland, said: "The Octavia RS has always been a very unique proposition. We would all love to drive sporty high performance vehicles but are prevented from doing so because we assume they are unpractical and are expensive to run and purchase. The RS 230 expels these myths with exceptional luggage and interior spaciousness and fuel economy from just 6.4 l/100km (44 mpg)."

Right so. You bring the popcorn; we'll bring the Maltesers....
