What's the news?
A new fleet of seven Volkswagen Transporter Rocktons have officially been handed over to Mountain Rescue Ireland. The vehicles will be stationed across the country in locations in Donegal, Galway, Mayo and Wicklow's Glen of Imaal.
The official delivery of the new vehicles took place in Tim Hastings Volkswagen and it coincided with the 25th anniversary of the Mayo Mountain Rescue Team. Purchase of the seven Volkswagen Transporter Rocktons was made possible through a once-off grant that was initially announced in June 2014 by then Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Leo Varadkar TD.
Commenting on the delivery of the new fleet, Head of Sales and Marketing for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Ireland, Kim Kilduff, said: "We are delighted to be able to support Mountain Rescue Ireland in the admirable work they do throughout the country."
