What's the news?
Dear Santa,
My name is Neil Briscoe and I am 39 and a half years old. I have been a very good boy this year, I have helped my wife tidy up the house more than once and I have been very, very good at keeping all the nice test cars clean. Please, please, please can I have a Land Rover Bespoke Defender Pedal Car for Christmas?
It's actually called 'Huey', named after the HUE 166 numberplate of the first ever production Land Rover from 1948. Styled to look like a modern Defender, it's built around a proper aluminium space frame chassis, has its own VIN number and is painted in the same Loire Blue as the current Defender.
It's all hand built, from the aluminium body to the chequer-plate protection panels to the side steps to the proper off-road tyres. I can be pedalled around, but there is proper working suspension and brakes, and even a parking brake so it won't accidentally roll into the Christmas tree and knock it over.
Inside, the dash is very reminiscent of the spartan interior of the original Series I Land Rover, but it is trimmed in leather, has a working horn and a leather-covered rear storage compartment. Jaguar Land Rover's Director of Branded and Licensed Goods Lindsay Weaver said: "This is both a wonderful collector's piece and children's toy. It demonstrates our ability to produce goods with world class quality and attention to detail that can emulate our world class Jaguar and Land Rover cars."
I know £10,000 is a lot of money, Santa, but I've been sooooooooo good this year. Even my mummy says so. I will leave out a mince pie, some brandy and a carrot for Rudolf...
