What's the news?
There have been a number of reports recently concerning fires starting in certain Opel Zafira models (Zafira B, from 2005 to 2014) and today, October 29, another fire in Passage West, Co. Cork, occurred.
The exact cause of the fire reported in Ireland is not yet known as investigations are ongoing but there is a possibility that it is linked to a number of previous cases in which improper repairs have led to incidents occurring. These have all involved the Zafira B model and seem to be originate around the heating and ventilation system.
It is believed that the fitment of non-genuine parts or previous repair works being carried out improperly have triggered this happening. Thus far Opel says that it only affects the Zafira B models and only those equipped with manual air conditioning, not Electronic Climate Control. It is not suspected that older Opel Zafira A or newer Zafira Tourer models are affected.

An official statement from Opel Ireland says:
"If you are concerned about operating your vehicle or if you notice any unusual characteristics with the heating and ventilation system (for example a squeaking noise from the dashboard) you should contact your Opel dealer and arrange for your vehicle to be inspected. This will be done at no cost."
