Joe Duffy Group acquires Karmann Volkswagen

Dublin-based business becomes twelfth dealership in Group.

What's the news?

The Joe Duffy Group has successfully acquired Karmann Volkswagen from REDCO Group following approval from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission. The decision sees Karmann become the Joe Duffy Group's third Volkswagen dealership and twelfth overall having just recently announced partnerships with Jaguar and Kia.

Karmann Volkswagen is located beside the M50 on the North Road in Finglas, Dublin 11 and is adjacent to the Group's Audi North Dublin business. Prior to that terminal-style building being completed, Audi North Dublin operated from the current Karmann Volkswagen premises.

Open since 2012 Karmann Volkswagen was part of the REDCO Group, which is the Irish distributor for all Honda products with the exception of cars, including motorcycles and ATVs. It also owns Pilsen Auto Skoda and M50 Retail in Ballymount. Karmann Volkswagen currently employs 24 people who will all transfer to the Joe Duffy Group.

Commenting on the acquisition, Gavin Hydes, Joe Duffy Group CEO, said: "We are very pleased to be representing our third Volkswagen business. As Ireland's leading motor retail group, we continue to expand and grow our Group. Last year saw the very successful acquisition of Volkswagen Commons Road Cars and I am confident that our latest acquisition will integrate successfully into our portfolio. We look forward to welcoming the Karmann team into the Joe Duffy Family. We are committed to investing in our people and this acquisition will bring the total number of Group employees to 400."
