Renault shows off Megane Sport Tourer GT

Renault Megane Sport Tourer estate given pre-Geneva preview.

What's the news?

Renault is going to launch the estate version of its Megane hatchback (called the Sport Tourer) in high-ranking GT trim at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

It's a handsome creation, the Sport Tourer, blending the distinctive face of the regular Megane with a neatly styled cargo area that retains an idiosyncratic full-width light signature. Renault says the body houses a modular interior with 'a choice of boot arrangements, as well as the segment's longest maximum load length'.

Selected styling addenda on this GT car will be different to the lesser variants in the Sport Tourer range. This Geneva star gets dark metal roof bars, a reshaped front bumper, a honeycomb mesh radiator grille, wider air inlets with two air scoops, a chrome exhaust pipe and a rear diffuser.

Anything else?

The Megane Sport Tourer GT is also going to receive four-wheel steering, known as 4Control in Renault-speak. The French company claims it bestows the wagon with 'precise, dynamic handling' on open roads and 'exceptional agility' in urban areas.

More details about engines, transmissions, technology and release dates for the Sport Tourer will be made available in Geneva.
