Next-gen Subaru Impreza set for New York

Fifth-generation of Subaru Impreza will be unveiled at New York Auto Show.

What's the news?

Subaru likes to keep things brief, even when it's announcing something big: so, in very short order here, the Japanese company has confirmed it will reveal the all-new, fifth-generation Impreza at the New York Auto Show at the end of March.

Nothing more than that, really, as there's a single teaser image of it to go with Subaru's assertion that the Impreza is 'the first of our next-generation strategic vehicles envisioned in the Mid-Term Management Vision 'Prominence 2020', announced in May 2014'.

Want some idle speculation? Expect it to have boxer-four engines and four-wheel drive, at the very least. Gold alloys with a blue body on performance versions, simply badged WRX STI, are unconfirmed.

Anything else?

If you want a better idea of what the Impreza will look like, take a peek at the Subaru XV Concept that the company displayed at Geneva. This encompasses the immediate design future of Subaru, in compact crossover form.
