Lexus does the V-LCRO fly

Grippier seats in the Lexus RC F and GS F models are on the way… or are they?

What's the news?

So, what has Lexus got up its sleeve for April 1st? Well (tongues firmly in cheeks, now), coming soon to an RC F or GS F near you is a Variable Load Coupling Rear Orientation covering for seats, in order to keep the driver and front-seat passenger firmly in place during cornering. This technology is known as V-LCRO. Ding-ding-ding-ding-ding! We have a winner.

Allowing for more aggressive cornering speeds because it can hold the driver in place through up to 3g in any direction, the user would have to wear a specially designed suit, featuring a complex pattern of hooks and loops. Oh yes.

Over to Brian Bolain (which doesn't look like a comedy name to us, unless we're missing something really obvious), who says: "While all performance cars use seat bolsters to hold a driver in place during aggressive manoeuvring, we're taking it a step further. In this case, the technology we're employing is actually more than 75 years old. The RC F and GS F are exhilarating, racing-inspired vehicles. By partnering with Velcro Companies, our new V-LCRO technology enhances the driver's ability to maximise the cars' track-proven performance."

Anything else?
