BMW centenary celebrations in Munich Olympic Park

Free events will take place from 9th to 11th September.

What's the news?

BMW is celebrating its 100th birthday this year but rather than just having some cake and a bottle of faintly disappointing Prosecco the German sports saloon specialist has decided to take over the Munich Olympic Park (handily adjacent to BMW HQ, museum and the vast BMW Welt exhibition centre) and put on a show, free of charge, for the public.

From the 9th to the 11th of September, you'll be able to see live shows in the park including classic concours and drifting exhibitions, a live BMW 'family tree' and take BMW taxi rides around the exhibits. And that's just during the day.

At night, German TV presenter Thomas Gottshack will present a live show involving both cars and music, including performances by the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, Eva Lind, Peter Kraus, Lena, Simply Red and Sunrise Avenue.

There's also an intriguing performance of Red Bull 'Flying Bach' performed by champion break dancers The Flying Steps.
