Volvo to introduce new child seats

New range aims for increased comfort and safety.

What's the news?

Child safety in cars is paramount, and manufacturers are understandably keen to focus efforts on constant improvements. To that end, Volvo is introducing three new child seats, with advances promising increased comfort and convenience.

This ties in with the company's Vision 2020, which aims to eradicate fatalities and serious injuries in Volvo cars by the year 2020.

The new seats feature upholstery containing 80% wool textile to help comfort in both hot and cold climates, along with a slimmer design to increase legroom.

Volvo is adamant in its belief that rearward-facing seats should be used until the child physically outgrows them, with two offerings of the new range following that concept. An infant seat suitable for up to nine months or 13kg, and a child seat from nine months to six years will be available. A forward-facing booster seat rounds out the range for children from three to 10 years old who have outgrown the rearward-facing units.

The company has long focused on the correct methods for installation and use of child seats, and has found that child discomfort is a major factor in influencing seating decisions. The seats have been developed in conjunction with Britax-Römer, established experts in that field, and will be available from the beginning of June in selected markets.
