What's the news?
While you may have thought that Ferrari had finished with the 458 and moved on to the new 488 turbo, you'd have thought wrong - thanks to the open cheque book of one particular (anonymous) customer, Ferrari has built a new, one-off 458MM Speciale.
There's nothing new mechanically here - the same 600hp V8 and the mid-engined balance of a prima ballerina.
But the body? Specially commissioned and created by the Ferrari Styling Centre, the client apparently wanted a 'visor' style windscreen, so the a-pillar was blacked out and a more pronounced, more dramatic c-pillar and window-line was created. Almost all of the bodywork has been altered, and hand-crafted in aluminium, to meet the customer's needs. There's an all-new aero package for instance, with new side air intakes for the engine - even the radiators have been moved to accommodate the new bodywork.
There's a new kick-up spoiler at the back, and a new rear valance with a narrower slit between the upper and lower bodywork, with new lights front and rear and special alloy wheels. Inside, the owner specced it with an uprated sound system and 'Cioccolato' leather with white stitching.
The Bianco Italia bodywork carries stripes representing the Italian flag.
Well, if you've got the cash, why not, eh?
