Lamborghini has unveiled an official 'spy' image of its forthcoming V12-engined hypercar.
Due to be fully unveiled in the metal at the Geneva Motor Show next month, the new Lamborghini clearly draws its inspiration from the firm's Reventón supercar, which debuted at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The styling is more angular than that of Lamborghini's previous flagship hypercar, the Murcielago, and the new model features a tub made completely from carbon fibre.
That's a first for the Italian supercar maker, as is the pushrod suspension, which is more common in single-seater racing cars.
At 6.5-litres, the capacity of the newcomer's V12 engine remains the same as that of the Murcielago. Expect an additional 60hp, though, which takes the total power output up to a smouldering 700hp.
The torque figure is equally impressive at 690Nm. All that twist will be reigned in by an automated manual gearbox with a single clutch. The transmission will operate in three modes: Strada, Sport and Corsa. Strada is fully automatic, while Sport is a little more involving for the driver. Corsa is more engaging still and features a hardcore launch control setting.
The remaining areas of the drivetrain are equally advanced. There's a computer-controlled differential at the front and the centre differential is based on a 'Haldex4' system, which is familiar from other four-wheel drive Volkswagen Group products, while the rear diff is integrated into the casting of the engine.
