Bentley Flying Spur W12 S gets 635hp

More power and 'Blackware' detailing for Bentley W12 hot-rod limo.

What's the news?

Bentley is giving the long-serving Flying Spur saloon an update that sees more power squeezed from the mighty 6.0-litre engine and some subtly sporty visual enhancements for this, the W12 S model.

The engine twin-turbo W12, which has been used in the Flying Spur since day one, now has a massive 635hp and 820Nm of torque. We're guessing it'll be brisk, at the very least.

Top speed now rises to 325km/h, (slightly more than the magic 200mph barrier) and the 0-100km/h run is done in just 4.5 seconds.

The suspension has been mildly retuned and recalibrated for the W12 S and there is the option of having massive carbon-ceramic brakes too.

On the styling front, the W12 S gets menacing, gloss-black 'Blackware' detailing around the grille, lights and diffuser. The front and rear lights are dark-tinted, and there are new, lower-slung bumpers.

There are new 21-inch seven-spoke alloys in gloss black or optional 21-inch five-spoke wheels with either gloss black or dark tint finish. Inside there is a black, engine-spun finish for the fascia and waist-rails (a carbon-fibre finish is optional) and the W12 S emblem is liberally sprinkled about. The sporty, three-spoke steering wheel and knurled gearshift paddles, usually an option on most Flying Spurs, are standard here.

There is also a remote control for the touchscreen infotainment system for use by rear seat passengers, and a wifi hotspot. A wifi hotspot that moves at 200mph. Good luck logging on to that...

Wolfgang Dürheimer, Chairman and Chief Executive of Bentley Motors, said: "The Flying Spur W12 S is the ultimate luxury performance sedan. It combines sharper dynamics and an increase in power from our renowned W12 engine with a more assertive exterior and interior design for customers looking for a Flying Spur with extra attitude."
