Enterprise Rent-A-Car aids Dublin Simon Community

Car rental company to help in collection and distribution of clothing and food hampers in Dublin over Christmas.

What's the news?

The Dublin Simon Community is being assisted by Enterprise Rent-A-Car this Christmas, with the car rental company dedicating a van to transporting clothes and food donations for the charity over the next few days. Enterprise has been working with the charity since 2013, and this is the second year that the company will take responsibility for the all-important deliveries.

The dedicated van will transport 500 bags of donated clothes and food hampers around the capital over the next few days, and around twenty Enterprise employees will be involved. The company is also donating new and used clothing including hats, socks and gloves that will be included in the Dublin Simon Community's Rough Sleeper packs and stocked in the charity's shops in Thomas Street and Camden Street.

Enterprise's Thomas Curran said: "We are delighted to once again be able to support the services of the Dublin Simon Community, which does excellent work helping those experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Dublin. This is Enterprise's second year participating in the bag run and there was huge support and enthusiasm once again from all our staff. Many of us are even planning on returning to the Dublin Simon Community shops in January to assist with the sorting and organising of the bags".

Christmas is obviously one of the busiest times of the year for the Simon concern, so any and all donations and help are greatly welcomed. Justyna Drogomirecka of the Dublin Simon Community stated: "We are delighted that Enterprise Rent-A-Car has come on board for the second year to transport collections of winter woollies and Christmas presents for our clients and residents. We have been working together since 2013 on a variety of projects and would like to thank everyone at Enterprise Rent-A-Car for their ongoing support. By volunteering their time and resources, the team will help us distribute warm clothing, food hampers and other items to families and individuals we work with. Every pair of gloves, every sleeping bag and every food hamper will make a real difference to people and families experiencing homelessness this Christmas."
