What's the news?
Renault has improved the range of two of its electric products, those being the Kangoo Van ZE and Master ZE commercial vehicles (CVs) - ZE, of course, standing for zero emissions in this instance.
Debuting at the Brussels Motor Show for CVs, the Kangoo Van ZE now has a 270km range, which is an increase of more than 50 per cent over its predecessor and said to be the longest distance any fully electric light CV can go on a single charge. The Kangoo achieves this as it benefits from a new 33kWh battery as well as a 44kW (60hp) R60 motor, and it's the first electric LCV fitted with a heat pump, allowing it to condition the battery in cold weather.
Furthermore, Europe's best-selling small van for the past six years has a 7kW, 32-amp charger that allows for faster charging times, helping business users who purchase the Renault - it can be fully re-juiced in just six hours.
Moving to the much larger Master ZE, it too has the 33kWh battery, which is linked to an R75 57kW (77hp) motor. That allows it a maximum range of 200km and a full charge from a 7kW Renault Wallbox takes the same six hours as the Kangoo Van ZE. The Master ZE has been designed specifically for last-mile urban distribution and municipal needs, and it comes in four different versions incorporating three body lengths and two vehicle heights.
New interactive apps, including My ZE Connect Pro (a specialised service for businesses), are now available for the Renault Pro+ range, with both the new vans going on sale later in 2017 - the Kangoo Van ZE launches in the middle of the year, with the Master ZE arriving a little later.
