What's the news?
Porsche has added the Platinum Edition trim to its Cayenne S and Cayenne S Diesel SUVs. This option brings some glitzy visual tweaks inside and out, although the mechanicals have been left alone.
External changes take the form of five metallic paint hues alongside the standard options of black and white, while high-gloss black detailing abounds and the wheel arch extensions now match the main body colour. The rear windows get tinted glass, the bi-Xenon headlights feature Porsche's Dynamic Light System (PDLS), and platinum-finished 21-inch Sport Edition alloys round off the exterior look.
The cabin gets heated and electrically-adjustable leather chairs with Alcantara similar to those found in the Cayenne GTS, and there's some 'Platinum Edition' lettering on the sill guards. Porsche Connection Management is standard and features the Connect Plus connectivity aid, and there's also a tasty Bose stereo system.
Anything else?
As previously mentioned, no mechanical updates have been made, so you still get to choose between 420hp petrol or 385hp diesel engines. Both are twin-turbocharged, while the latter unit boasts a faintly ridiculous 850Nm of torque, no doubt handy for uprooting tree stumps should the need arise. Pricing for the petrol-powered Platinum Edition Cayenne S comes in at €120,245, while the diesel is ever so slightly dearer at €120,305. First deliveries are due soon, and customers will also have the opportunity to explore their new Cayenne's capabilities at the Porsche Experience Centre in Silverstone, should they so choose.
