Fiat gets ready for Geneva Motor Show

Fiat celebrates 60 years of the 500 and introduces new S-Design Tipo and 500X at Geneva Motor Show.

What's the news?

Fiat has revealed the line-up for its stand at the Geneva Motor Show. To celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of the 500 there is a new limited edition model. There's also a new S-Design trim level, the new Fullback Cross and the limited edition 124 Spider Europa.

On 4th July 1957 Fiat launched the 'Nuvoa 500', which offered affordable motoring and space for four in a package less than three metres long. Over four million examples were sold in an 18-year production run. Fifty years later, also on 4th July, Fiat launched the current 500; capitalising on the popularity of its predecessor, sales of the new model are due to pass two million early this year.

To mark the anniversary of the iconic 500 there is a numbered limited edition model. Based on the convertible body it features a number of retro details in tribute to the 1957 car. There is plenty of chrome trim, a two-tone paint finish and '560' badges with the 6 and 0 picked out in red. On the inside the dashboard gets vinyl trim, the seats are upholstered in ivory leather with burgundy seams and a plaque between the seats confirms the limited edition status. The order book will open on 9th March with the first deliveries due on 4th July.

Fiat will premiere the 500X S-Design and Tipo 5-Door S-Design; this new trim level is aimed at young male customers who want to 'express their own dynamic style'. A 500X S-Design City Look will be on the show stand; showcasing the new matt Alpi Green paint colour, which contrasts with the polished steel door handles, side mouldings and front spoiler. On the inside there are S-Design specific seats with a copper-coloured embroidered logo. The S-Design Tipo 5-Door is finished in Metropoli Grey with Piano Black front grille trim and Bi-Xenon headlamps. For the interior the Tipo gets part leather seats.

The Fiat Fullback Cross is a new variant of the company's pick-up truck with 17-inch matt black wheels matching the wheel arches, side steps and door mirrors. A textured black sport bar is designed to give the Fullback Cross a sleeker outline.

Finally, the Fiat 124 Spider Europa revives a model name from the company's back catalogue; 36 years ago the original 124 Spider Europa was launched at the Geneva show. Special details include 17-inch four spoke alloy wheels, the 124 logo on the front grille and a numbered plaque inside.
