New Honda Civic is officially launched in Ireland

Tenth-generation Honda Civic hatchback will be priced from €23,750 in Ireland

What's the news?

The all-new Honda Civic has been officially launched in Ireland, with a starting price of €23,750. Initially the new Civic will be available to order with a choice of 129hp 1.0-litre or 182hp 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engines. Honda will introduce a diesel engine to the line-up, too, but that won't arrive until early 2018. The 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre petrol engines score well when it comes to emissions, resulting in annual motor tax rates of €200 and €280 per annum respectively. Both engines will also be offered with the choice of six-speed manual or automatic (CVT) transmissions.

Honda has made a suite of safety systems standard on the Civic range. Lane Keep Assist, Road Departure Mitigation, Traffic Sign Recognition that is linked in to the Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning and Collision Mitigation Braking are all included in what the company calls Honda Sensing.

Other features include Honda's Connect infotainment system with Garmin satellite navigation, which comes as standard fitment on all but the entry-level 1.0-litre Smart model. Standard features across the range also include Bluetooth connectivity and both front and rear parking sensors.

Anything else?

High-performance hot hatch fans won't have to wait too long before the new Type R model arrives. Officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, the new Honda Civic Type R is propelled by a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine that produces 320hp and 400Nm of torque.
