McLaren teases three-seater ‘Hyper-GT’

McLaren Special Operations tease design sketch of its new Hyper-GT the BP23 project.

What's the news?

McLaren Special Operations (MSO) recently announced the existence of the BP23 project, and today it has revealed a design sketch to whet our appetites even further.

The new 'Hyper-GT' is set to be McLaren's most powerful and aerodynamic road car ever, no mean feat for a company that can count cars like the wild P1 among its achievements.

The BP23 harks back to the iconic McLaren F1 of the 1990s, and its three-seater layout mimics the Gordon Murray-designed supercar. Only 106 cars will be produced, a nod to the production figure of the original F1.

The design sketch demonstrates a sleek-looking shape unburdened by wings, although a huge rear diffuser hints at some sophisticated underbody aerodynamics. All cars are already pre-sold, with customers due to receive delivery in 2019.

New levels of luxury and performance are promised for the BP23, and a battle for hypercar supremacy with the Aston Martin Valkyrie and Mercedes-AMG's Project One will be a tantalising prospect. Knowing McLaren, we can expect to be drip-fed many more details and images between now and the car's official reveal.
