What's the news?
Volvo Car Ireland has, in conjunction with Creane and Creane Insurance Brokers, launched a new insurance product called - rather obviously - Volvo Car Insurance (VCI).
The new package takes inspiration from the UK, where Volvo Car has worked with that country's leading insurance group administrator Thatcham to prove that the company's City Safety package has reduced accident rates and relevant repair costs, since it launched in 2008 in the XC60.
Additional research shows City Safety can help to prevent personal injury claims for whiplash, by mitigating low-speed rear-end shunts, and also negates the need for a hire vehicle while a driver's car is in for repair.
City Safety is now standard fit on all the brand's cars and Volvo Ireland ultimately hopes that VCI can emulate the UK reduction in premiums for models fitted with the technology.
David Thomas, managing director of Volvo Car Ireland, said: "Safety has always been our key priority at Volvo Cars. We work hard to ensure that our cars fulfil all safety requirements and pass all testing procedures. Our main focus is, and always has been, real-life safety. We believe our customers should benefit not only from the peace of mind that comes with Volvo's safety credentials, but also financially, in the form of reduced insurance premiums.
"We have therefore partnered with Creane and Creane Insurance Brokers to offer our customers a complete product offering and start this data capture process, which over time will demonstrate that Volvo cars are safer to drive. We have seen in other markets that Volvo Cars operates in, customers benefitting from reduced premiums as a result of driving a Volvo."
Anything else?
You can buy VCI through Volvo Car Ireland's website or via a dedicated call centre, and in the event the car requires repair after an accident, the Volvo will go into the nearest bodyshop, whereupon Creane and Creane will capture all collision information and claims data for analysis.
To celebrate the launch of VCI, Volvo Car Ireland is offering a €500 insurance contribution and three-year service plan for anyone that signs up for the insurance package on a new car purchase, between now and October 31st, 2017. Terms and conditions apply.
