Bentley breaks out the black for Flying Spur V8 S

Bentley Flying Spur V8 S Black Edition is darker version of the 528hp luxury saloon.

What's the news?

Bentley is doing a special, dark-themed version of the Flying Spur V8 S, and it's called the Black Edition.

In essence, the Black Edition is a 528hp V8 S with a lot of brooding detailing. Like the dark light clusters fore and aft, including black bezels, plus lots of gloss-black trim - spot it on the radiator grille, the window surrounds, the headlight washer caps and the door-handle inserts. The 21-inch alloys are of a bespoke design for the Black Edition and, yes, they're gloss black too; you can even paint the brake callipers black, although red is also an option.

Inside is a 'unique colour split' for the Flying Spur V8 S Black Edition's cabin, with bold stripes of stitched leather framing the centre squabs of the four seats and another used in the contrast headliner 'roof bow'. Otherwise, lotsa Piano Black veneer and a three-spoke Sport Plus steering wheel are among the Black Edition's upgrades, as well as contrast stitching. Of course, it's a Benters - so you can specify any colour combination you like in the interior, if you so wish.

Under the bonnet is the 4.0-litre V8 turbocharged engine, delivering inflated outputs compared to the regular V8 car. The Black Edition boasts 528hp and 680Nm, increases of 21hp and 20Nm, enough for a 4.9-second 0-100km/h time and 306km/h flat out. Power, as ever, goes to all four wheels with a 40:60 rear-biased torque split for sporty driving characteristics.

If all this doesn't sound special enough, opt for the Mulliner Driving Specification and there are diamond-quilted hides in the seat and door panels, as well as two additional 21-inch five-spoke directional alloy wheel designs.

Anything else?

The Bentley Flying Spur V8 S Black Edition is likely to cost a premium over and above the normal V8 S, which in turn is more money than the regular 507hp V8, so expect it to be well beyond €300,000 when imported to Ireland.
