Honda Powering Local Dreams in Cork

Honda launches community initiative in Cork with €5,000 on offer for community groups.

What's the news?

Following on form a successful programme in Galway, which saw the Ability West group being given €5,000 in cash to help support its services last year, Honda has launched the County Cork leg of its Honda - Powering Local Dreams initiative.

Any community or local action group in Cork is now being invited to submit applications for the €5,000 grant, and there's no upper nor lower size limit on the group that can apply. All applications will be examined, and a final group of three put forward for a winner to be chosen by a public online vote.

The overall winner will be announced on Friday the 20th of October.

The Cork leg of the programme was launched at an event in Blackrock Castle in Cork, which was also attended by Honda brand ambassador Alison Canavan, management of Universal Honda Ltd. and representatives of local Honda dealerships in Cork: Kevin O'Leary Honda, Johnson and Perrott Honda and Hurley Bros. Honda.

Speaking at the event, Universal Honda boss John Saunders said that: "from its success in 2016 we are delighted to be bringing Powering Local Dreams to Cork. Through our network of locally owned and run dealerships we are right in the heart of the community and this is our opportunity to give something back. I would like to invite every group and organisation from all over Cork to take part and formally wish them all good luck."

The deadline for submissions is Thursday, the 14th of September.
