What's the news?
The third running of the annual Colin McRae Charity Run (CMCR) is heading back to a starting point in Northern Ireland - with extra poignancy this year, as it is the tenth anniversary of the rally legend's untimely passing.
Held on Saturday, September 16, the CMCR will begin at 1pm at Eastwood Motors Subaru, in Lisburn, just outside Belfast, and wind its way through picturesque countryside both north and south of the border, before concluding at Neary's Subaru in Lusk, Co Dublin, at around 6pm. There will be a stopover along the route, too.
The CMCR is organised by a group of Subaru owners and it is supported by both Subaru NI and Subaru Ireland. Around 150 Scoobies from across Ireland and the UK are expected to be in attendance, and spectators are welcome at both the start and finish lines.
Colin died in a helicopter accident near his Lanarkshire home on September 15, 2007, and the organisers of the CMCR say this year's event will celebrate his multiple motorsport achievements, as well as aiming to keep his name and legacy going.
There will also be family activities at Eastwood Motors ahead of the rally, as registration begins at 10am - allowing participants and their families to enjoy a superhero kids' meet and greet area, a barbecue, bouncy castle, prize raffle and refreshments, as well as a Subaru heritage display and a BRZ sporting a V8 conversion, courtesy of local engineering company Momentum Tuning.
Prizes for giveaways throughout the day come from Subaru NI - which has donated men's and women's jackets, as well as Subaru goody bags with assorted branded items - while Subaru Ireland has put up an autographed Dublin GAA team shirt, as well as Subaru Ireland-branded paddock jackets.
All participants in the rally will receive a goody bag at the start and there's a Concours d'Elegance Trophy for the 'Best Subaru' entrant on the day. All proceeds from the CMCR go to Angel Wishes, a charity that aims to make seriously ill children's dreams come true.
