First glimpse of Mercedes-AMG Project One

Image shows roof scoop and Le Mans look for 1,000hp+, 350km/h+ Mercedes-AMG Project One.

What's the news?

This is our first view, glimpsed though it is, of the 1,000hp+ Mercedes-AMG Project One and, as we believe the kids on the internet say, EXCITE!

The solitary image reveals a car that has a clear 'Le Mans racer' look, despite the fact AMG is saying it is bringing F1 technology to the road (more on that in a moment), and a roof scoop to funnel air into its mid-mounted V6 turbocharged engine.

It's that very specification of combustion motor which ties it so closely to Formula 1, as the forced induction V6 is linked up to electric propulsion to augment the whole kit and caboodle. That means that Mercedes-AMG has revealed that the Project One will have a top speed exceeding 350km/h.

The company further adds that the two-seater car, due to make its debut at the forthcoming Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA), 'combines outstanding racetrack performance with day-to-day suitable Formula 1 hybrid technology and exemplary efficiency'.

Anything else?

The IAA Frankfurt Motor Show runs from September 14-24 this year.
