What's the news?

The annual Cannonball will take place around Ireland from 8 to 10 September, raising awareness and funds for the Make-A-Wish charity organisation.

More than 190 vehicles ranging from iconic classics to the latest supercars will set off from Dublin's Point Village on Friday at 11am. The route on day one will see the convoy head south towards Kinsale then toward the first finish line in Limerick that evening.

Some of the supercar highlights will include the new Aston Martin DB11, Ferrari 488 GTBLamborghini Aventador SV Roadster, McLaren 650SPorsche 911 GT3 RS and a Rolls-Royce Dawn, to name but a few. In addition to the incredible lineup of cars, there will be some familiar faces taking part ranging from Doc and Marty McFly in a DeLorean, the NYPD and German Polizei, as well as Optimus Prime and Bumblebee from Transformers.

Over the course of the weekend, more than 160,000 people are expected to line the streets to watch the Cannonball roll through their towns and villages. Other locations along the route include Galway Plaza, Claremorris, Sligo, Mullingar and Moneygall.

On Sunday evening the cars will roll over the finish line in Kilkenny.

You can view the entire route and expected times of arrival at each location by visiting the Cannonball Ireland website.

Anything else?

To date, the Cannonball has raised more than €900,000 for charitable organisations and this year proceeds will go to Make-A-Wish Ireland. The charity works with children between the ages of 3 and 17 years that have life-threatening medical conditions to make whatever their wish may be to come true.
