What's the news?
The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is sorely missed by enthusiasts the world over. Through ten iterations, numerous rallying successes (thanks to Father Dougal's doppelganger Tommi Makinen) and constant battles with whatever version of Subaru's Impreza had been launched that month, it won the hearts of petrolheads with its tenacious grip, shocking cross-country pace and cartoonish looks. Crossovers sell, so don't be too surprised if there is some sort of announcement regarding a new model at the concept's debut at the Tokyo motor show next month.
The firm has a strong history of building tough and dependable all-wheel drive vehicles, so there should be no worries in that regard. Also, let's not forget that the Evolution name has been seen on an SUV before; Google 'Pajero Evolution', and prepare to be amazed at the lengths that Mitsubishi went to in the effort to homologate its little SUV for the Dakar Rally...
