What's the news?
Ford is launching a series of discounts and equipment boosters to try, it claims, to encourage drivers to buy newer, cleaner cars in 2018. There are price cuts of up to €6,000 on some models, plus a 0 per cent PCP plan and extended warranties too.
"Our Clean Up for 181 campaign is all about making it extremely easy for car buyers to get out of older, less efficient cars and get into one of our new models which have engines that are all Euro 6 compliant, meaning they are meeting the strictest European emissions regulations," said Ciarán McMahon, Chairman and Managing Director of Ford Ireland. "To paraphrase Henry Ford, our 181 campaign means you can have any colour you want, as long as it's green!"
The campaign includes €6,000 off the price of a Kuga ST-Line, €4,000 off the new EcoSport, €5,500 off a Focus Titanium, €5,305 off a Focus ST-Line, €1,000 off a new Fiesta, €6,000 off a Grand C-Max, €6,000 off an S-Max, and €6,000 off a Galaxy Titanium, all depending on terms and conditions of course.
"Our Clean Up for 181 deal on C-MAX, makes that model a very strong contender for the title of best value vehicle for families currently on the market. Plus our 0 per cent two and three year PCP deals on a wide range of models mean that customers could be driving away in, for example, a new Fiesta or new Focus for as little as €134 or €208 per month respectively", concluded McMahon.
The offer also extends to the commercial range, with as much as €4,000 off a Transit or Ranger, and a 3.9 per cent PCP rate.
However, it's notable that Ford is not calling this a scrappage deal, and as yet there is no commitment to scrap or dispose of any of the older, more polluting cars that are traded in.
