What's the news?
One doesn't naturally nor automatically associate Aston Martin with American football, but that hasn't stopped Aston linking up with NFL legend Tom Brady to create a very special edition of the Vanquish Volante.
Brady is the quarterback for the New England Patriots, and holds the record, jointly with Charles Haley, of winning five Superbowls, all with the same team.
Aston's Q Department has teamed up with Brady to create the Vanquish Volante S Tom Brady Signature Edition, which will be strictly limited to just 12 cars. It's part of Aston's 'Q by Aston Martin - Commission' service, launched at this year's Geneva show, which encourages customers to get really involved in the design of their cars, to create something properly unique.
Brady's Aston gets Ultramarine Black paint on the outside, and a Dark Knight leather interior. There's also extra carbon-fibre, and gearshift paddle tips picked out in California Poppy leather. The car's get Brady's signature on the door sills, as well as a smattering of TB12 (12 being his jersey number) on the front wings and headrests. It uses the standard 6.0-litre 580hp V12 engine from the normal Vanquish.
Tom Brady himself said: "It was an easy decision to go with the Vanquish S for the special edition - it is an incredible car to drive and is truly a work of art. Going through the process of curating a unique Aston Martin has been fascinating. We started with a blank canvas and finished with this beautiful car. It's been great to see it all come to fruition and I'm proud to share a name with it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!"
Aston Martin's Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman said: "Q by Aston Martin - Commission' is the ultimate in bespoke, in fact it can even go as far as creating an entirely new car. Tom chose the Vanquish S as he recognises natural athletic performance when he sees it. He has curated a beautiful, tailor-made car that will excite its owners for many years to come."
