Volkswagen announces Irish pricing for new Polo

The new Volkswagen Polo will start from €16,795.

What's the news?

Volkswagen has announced that its new Polo will land on Irish shores next month, just in time for the January 2018 sales rush. While left-hand-drive demonstration models have already been spotted in dealerships around the country, the reveal of full pricing details heralds the imminent arrival of the premium small hatchback.

Available in five-door guise only throughout the range, prices start at €16,795 for the 1.0-litre, 65hp Polo in Trendline trim. As standard, Trendline features Bluetooth connectivity, a 6.5-inch Composition Colour radio system with four speakers, a multi-function display and forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking. On PCP finance, monthly payments start at €199, with an APR of 3.9 per cent. Engine options are limited on Trendline to 1.0-litre 65hp and 1.0-litre 75hp petrols, along with a 1.6-litre 80hp TDI diesel.

A 'Technology Upgrade' offer for the Trendline trim brings numerous upgrades such as 15-inch alloy wheels, a multi-function steering wheel, front foglights and tech upgrades for €499, down from the €861 that these upgrades would cost if specified individually.

Moving up the scale, the Polo Comfortline comes in at a starting point of €18,695, offering alloy wheels, cruise control and more tech features as standard. The 'Technology Upgrade' option once again costs €499 and brings bigger wheels, enhanced lighting and park distance control among other niceties, which would total €1,429 if optioned separately. More powerful petrol and diesel engine options feature alongside the Trendline's offerings, the petrol available with a seven-speed DSG gearbox only.

At the top end will sit the new 200hp Polo GTI, starting at €32,395, though this will not land in Ireland until early next year.

Handily, customers wishing to trade-in their Euro 1-4 emissions standard diesel vehicle can avail of a €1,750 'EcoGrant' against the price of a new Polo.
