Renault helps charity with Christmas cheer

Renault Ireland and Crosscare team up to deliver 600 care packages a day to those in need.

What's the news?

Renault Ireland is doing its bit to spread a bit of much-needed festive cheer this Christmas - it has teamed up with social support charity Crosscare to provide food and other important supplies to those in need over the coming weeks.

Using a fleet of five Renault vans, Crosscare travelled around Dublin and Wicklow at the start of December, collecting non-perishables such as tinned food, soft drinks, cereals and toiletries. Following that little haul, 20 Renault Ireland staff then spent a day packaging up the donations, which will now be delivered by Crosscare to people in local communities in the run-up to the festive season.

Crosscare usually delivers 100 packages a week, but with the backing of Renault Ireland, that rose to 600 packages in a single day. The social support agency provides a range of social care, community and youth work services across the Dublin Archdiocese, with more than 500 employees and in excess of 1,500 volunteers throughout the greater Dublin area and Wicklow. It has provided 500,000 meals to those in need and continues to play a significant role in the provision of services to people affected by poverty in the Dublin area.

Anything else?

Karla Clifford, brand communications manager for Renault Ireland, said: "We are delighted to be able to support such a worthy cause and help to highlight the amazing work that Crosscare does all year round, but especially at Christmas. We hope that this donation will make a difference in the lives of families in need around Dublin and beyond this Christmas."
