Hyundai Kona Electric for Geneva Motor Show

Fully electric version of Hyundai Kona can go up to 470km on a single charge, says carmaker.

What's the news?

Hyundai is readying an electric version of its Kona crossover for the Geneva Motor Show in March.

This teaser image released by the company is said to preview an all-electric, compact SUV that will be on sale by this summer - making Hyundai the first brand in Europe to make such a vehicle available to a wide audience.

Hyundai says the Kona Electric will feature two different powertrain options, with a class-leading range of 470km promised as part of the deal. The Korean car company also claims the Kona Electric will have a 'great, fun-to-drive' character, while it will benefit from a wide range of connectivity features and active safety/driver assist technologies.

The Kona Electric forms part of Hyundai's ever-expanding range of electric and part-electric cars, while other forms of the company's ecomobility include the ix35 hydrogen fuel cell vehicle (FCEV) and its successor, the Nexo. Hyundai is also proud of the Ioniq, which features three different types of electrified drivetrains.

Anything else?

While the Kona Electric will make its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show, further details on this new Hyundai will be released at the end of February.
