Renault adds Master ZE to EV range

Renault Master ZE is full-sized electric commercial vehicle for 'last-mile' deliveries.

What's the news?

Renault is adding a fully electric version of its largest commercial vehicle (CV), the Master, to its range of zero-emissions vans, such as the Kangoo ZE and Twizy Cargo.

With a 33kWh lithium-ion battery and a maximum theoretical range of 120km, the Master ZE is not designed to be a long-distance CV, instead designed to take advantage of any city centres that are emissions-free zones and therefore ideally suited to last-mile deliveries. Helpfully, that battery can be fully recharged from its lowest level in just six hours.

Motive power comes from the 57kW (76hp) R75 e-motor found in the Zoe, leading to a maximum speed of 100km/h. Activating Eco Mode sees the top speed limited to 80km/h and the acceleration blunted, in order to better eke out the battery's charge.

Renault will offer the Mater ZE in six different versions - three lengths and two heights creating these variants - and load spaces will be up to 19 metres cubed, with a payload of up to 1,370kg.

Anything else?

Pricing and full specifications for the Renault Master ZE should be confirmed in summer, with order books opening later in 2018 - first deliveries should take place before the year is out.
