Peugeot has announced Irish prices and specs for the new Rifter, it's family MPV-cum-crossover, which launches in January. Prices will start from €23,450 for the Active model, featuring a 75hp 1.5-litre BlueHDi diesel engine and five seats. A five-year warranty will be standard.
Colin Sheridan, Sales and Marketing Director at Gowan Distributors (the Irish distributors for Peugeot), said: "The new Rifter is a replacement to the Partner Tepee MPV, which has historically proven highly popular amongst both our mobility customers and taxi drivers who avail of the WAV grant (Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle Grant). Undoubtedly, these existing customers will be very satisfied with our new stylish replacement, which is now available with a choice of both petrol and diesel engines, with five or seven seats, up to 19 driver aids and a wide range of new options."
He continued: "Furthermore, given its desirable SUV look, its large rear tailgate opening with separate opening window, numerous strorage areas, sliding side doors for ease of access and the option of five seats or seven seats, three of which take full size child seats in row two, we are sure to attract new customers seeking an excellent value-for-money, family car. Indeed, the long version offers ample seating room for seven adults and a loading capacity of up to 4,000 litres when the third row seats are removed, or folded flat with the Magic Flat command, trim dependent."
The Rifter will be available in three specifications: Active, Allure and GT Line. Two petrol engines and four diesels will be available: a 1.2-litre PureTech petrol making 110hp and a six-speed gearbox; a 1.2-litre PureTech petrol making 130hp with an automatic eight-speed (that one will be available from April 2019); a 1.5-litre BlueHDi diesel producing 75hp, with a five-speed manual; a 1.5-litre BlueHDi diesel 100hp five-speed; a 1.5-litre BlueHDi diesel 130hp six-speed; and a 1.5-litre BlueHDi diesel 130hp automatic eight-speed.
Standard equipment on the entry level Active model, retailing from €23,540 plus delivery for the five-seat version, or from €24,490 plus delivery for the seven-seat version, includes i-Cockpit with eight-inch touchscreen and customisable head-up digital instrument panel, Mirrorscreen connectivity, 16-inch wheels, full size spare wheel, tyre pressure monitoring, six airbags, air conditioning, 12-volt plug in row two, overhead storage, luggage cover and a 'Safety Pack' to include Active Safety Brake, lane keeping assist and speed limit recognition and recommendation.
The Allure model costs from €25,570 plus delivery and gains 16-inch alloys, rear parking sensors, visibility pack (auto lights and wipers), leather steering wheel, 'Look Pack' to include front fog lights, folding front passenger seat, electric parking brake, second row central and floor storage, three individual 'magic flat' seats in row two and electric rear windows.
The level four GT Line, from €28,400 plus delivery, benefits from 17-inch alloys, keyless access and start, a 'Safety Plus Pack' (High Beam Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition and Advanced Driver Attention Alert), dark tinted rear windows, Visiopark 180 (front and rear parking aid with camera), dual-zone air conditioning, electrochrome rear view mirror and GT Line styling and badging.
