What's the news?
This is our first glimpse of the Lagonda All-Terrain Concept, an all-electric SUV from Aston Martin that will make its debut at the forthcoming Geneva Motor Show.
Lagonda has already hinted it will make an SUV and the sub-marque of Aston Martin is a totally electric company, with zero-emissions products. The Lagonda Vision Concept, displayed at last year's Geneva show, hinted at the look these hyper-luxury EVs could take and now the All-Terrain Concept takes this theme and runs with it.
Rather surprisingly, it's the All-Terrain Concept Lagonda will put into production first, meaning it hits with its SUV not long after Aston Martin, as a whole, first ventures into this arena with the conventionally powered DBX. Lagonda says the All-Terrain Concept's design is not only striking, but that it enables an interior with 'extraordinary' design and space, all afforded to it by dint of the car's electric platform.
For fans of the more familiar Aston Martins, the All-Terrain Concept will be joined by the three core series production sports cars, in the shape of the Vantage, the DB11 AMR and the DBS Superleggera. Two of these cars will have been styled by Aston Martin's bespoke personalisation service, Q, with the Vantage finished in Cosmos Orange.
Anything else?
Andy Palmer, Aston Martin Lagonda president and group CEO, said: "The ways in which automotive brands reveal new product has changed beyond recognition in recent years, but there's still something compelling about the unique atmosphere of a great motor show. Historically Geneva has always been good for us - the buzz surrounding the stand last year when we revealed the Lagonda Vision Concept was truly remarkable - so it's fantastic to return to the scene of such great success with another world debut.
"The Lagonda All-Terrain Concept offers explicit clues regarding what will be the first Lagonda model to enter production, and further demonstrates how Lagonda's zero emission powertrain enables us to create spectacular cars that will radically redefine their sectors of the market. I'm expecting the Aston Martin Lagonda stand to be busier than ever, and very much look forward to seeing the crowd's reaction first-hand."
The 89th Geneva Motor Show runs from March 5-17.
