A new Mitsubishi L200 is set to arrive in Ireland in August and is poised to capitalise on the growing interest in pickups from private and commercial users. It boasts sharper looks including the latest version of the 'Dynamic Shield' design language. The L200 will be available in three specification grades, Business, Intense and Instyle, the latter available only with an automatic transmission. It will only be offered as a double cab, with seating for five people.
New L200 will have pulling power
Powering the L200 is a 150hp 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine that uses either a six-speed manual or automatic four-wheel drive transmission. The payload capacity varies between 950- and 1,080kg depending on the model variant, while all versions are rated with a braked towing capacity of 3,100kg. The unbraked towing ability for the L200 is 750kg.
Spec details of the new L200
Starting with the entry-level Business model. Among the standard equipment are manual air conditioning, cruise control with a speed limiter function, Bluetooth with voice control, electric front and rear windows, Easy Select 4WD, rear differential lock, trailer stability assist and 16-inch alloy wheels. This version is only available with the manual transmission and will start at €35,000.
The mid-grade Intense model gains keyless entry and engine start, automatic air conditioning, two additional USB ports in the rear, a seven-inch touch screen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a multi-camera view for parking and off-road. There is also a suite of safety systems including forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning, hill descent control and off-road traction control for various driving conditions. Automatic wipers, headlights, LED daytime running lights and a rear step bumper are also included, with a starting price of 37,850 for the manual transmission and €39,350 for the automatic.
Finally, there is the Instyle version. In addition to what is offered with the Intense version, this model adds dual-zone air conditioning, front and rear parking sensors, leather upholstery, heated front seats including a six-way electrically adjustable driver's seat, a more advanced collision avoidance system called ultrasonic misacceleration mitigation system (UMS), rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot warning. This model is only available with an automatic transmission and will cost from €41,935.
