Cartell and Audatex will automate vehicle write-off alerts

New service will help insurers comply with incoming legislation.

Vehicle history expert Cartell.ie has joined forces with UK-based Audatex, a global provider of market-leading solutions for bodyshops, service providers, insurers and customers, to provide real-time information on cars that have been written-off.

New legislation on write-offs

Written-off cars leaking back into circulation is a serious issue, and Cartell.ie reckons that more than ten per cent of all UK imports to Ireland are previous write-offs. Later this year, new legislation will come into effect, as part of an amendment to the Road Traffic Act, which requires vehicle insurers to notify the National Vehicle Driver File, held by the Department of Transport, when a vehicle is written off.

Daily updated datababe

To help speed that process along, Cartell will work with Audatex’s AudaEnterpriseGold (AEG) solution, which will create a daily report of all Category A (scrap only) and Category B (some salvageable parts) write-offs. The report will take in information from all insurers that have written-off a vehicle that day That report will then be sent each day to the Department, creating a real-time update of each write-off.

Making roads safer

Commenting on the partnership, Tom Hart, Head of Client Relationships at Audatex said: “We pride ourselves on being a forward-thinking company that creates solutions to mitigate problems for our customers before they arise. Working closely with Cartell, we have created a sophisticated solution, powered by data from vehicle assessments to fully automate the category identification process. The solution will minimise downtime in the communication of vehicle data from the Engineer to the Department of Transport, ensuring continued compliance for insurers in the market.” Jeff Aherne, Director of Cartell commented: “Our vehicle database expertise, combined with Audatex’s innovative insurance and bodyshop solutions made for a great partnership for this system. We have worked well with Audatex to deliver the solution before the law changes take place later this year. We understand just how important it is for our customers to operate within regulations, and we’re dedicated to support them with the tools to remain both compliant and efficient when such changes occur.”
