If you were worried that BMW might make the new M5 too sensible and gadget-laden, have a look at this latest video from the Germans. Conclusive proof that the next M5 is going to be an absolute hoot to drive, we think, comes from BMW's test track in Miramas, France.
In the video, BMW's engineers are supposed to be carrying out serious testing, but we suspect their day job is much more enjoyable. From standing starts to burn-outs, drifting to lairy cornering, the M5 does the lot and looks every inch the ideal super saloon.
You can also hear the new M5's twin-turbo V8 engine clearly in the video, so we're in for an aural treat when the car is officially launched later this year. Have a close look at the video, too, when the car is on the high speed track. You can see the speedo hitting 320km/h.
BMW's M Automobiles Albert Biermann said: "Our goal is to create an even more exciting driving experience. The new car has to be faster on the race track than its predecessor and we've proven that. We also want to extend the level of comfort."
Job done, we reckon. Now, when can we drive it BMW?
