How did my VW Caddy get stolen?

My '05 VW Caddy (new shape) was recently stolen. They some how hot-wired it and drove off with it. Caddys have a coded key ignition and I have both keys and they had to break a window to get in, so how did they start it?

Should I buy at an auction?

I am a 24-year-old man looking for my first car. I am looking for something of medium size, medium to small engine and a solid car. I was just wondering is it a good idea to go to car auctions or are they a bit of a gamble. Or what could you recommend with a budget of a maximum of €4k?

When did diesel particulate filters come?

Could you tell which were the first diesel cars on the Irish market to be fitted with diesel particulate filters (DPF) as standard or even as an option? We're looking for a 6-8 year-old car and would like to consider a diesel for cheaper running costs, but a DPF is a must because of our concerns over how diesel soot particulates can cause asthma. Preferably at least medium sized or mini-MPV.

Will changing my speedo and odometer raise alarm bells?

Hello,

I may decide to import a car from Britain; as I would plan to keep it for a long time I would like to change the speedo and odometer to km/h. How would this affect the VRT inspection and the NCT? How can I record it that it was changed?

I do not want a scenario that it pops up on a car checking website as suspicious, but would like it to show that the speedo and odometer where changed at a specific mileage.

Can I bypass my interior heater?

Thanks for the last answer.

Could I take the heating pipes going through the bulkhead off and join them back to back with a bit of copper pipe? Wouldn't this bypass the radiator in the car and to hell with the heater as I think the dashboard has to come out to fit a new heater radiator. Or am I only looking for trouble?

Thanks again
