Easiest way to change ownership of a car?
My boyfriend at the time said he would give me his car, but we have broken up since and I don't want the car anymore. He has sent me over the logbook and the car he is now driving still is under my name when it was previously in his name, so my question is how do I get it back under his name? I have tried looking online and can't find anything. I have the logbook; does he just need to fill in his details and send it off then?
Thank you

What will I pay on importing a small van?
Hi,
I'm hoping you might be able to answer my question, please. I plan to purchase a small van from Northern Ireland and import it into the Republic. What charges will I incur when importing this vehicle? I am hoping to buy a Berlingo/Partner. Is there still a flat rate of €200 VRT or do I have to pay VAT in the ROI as well? I am not registered for VAT. Does VAT apply to new vehicles only?
Sorry, I know that was more than one question.
Thanks in advance,
Chris, Donegal

Can I get car finance without a job?
I am wondering if it's possible to get a car financed without having work sorted first. I am moving back to Ireland to the west and need a car to have a chance of getting work. I am wondering if finance is like a loan where you need a job first to get it or does it work differently than that?

Can our business register a commercial?
I have a registered business in Ireland. It is a dental practice. But I am not VAT-registered as we do not charge VAT on services. Can I still buy a commercial vehicle and register it through the business and tax it on a commercial basis? I understand that I would have to pay the VAT on the vehicle, but the savings in the motor tax would greatly beneficial.

VRT on importing a Mercedes CLA?
The VRT Calculator on Revenue's site does not have the model of car I am considering importing into Ireland. How can I know what VRT I will be charged before I present the car? It is a Mercedes-Benz CLA 220 AMG Line Auto that is six months old. The calculator has the 180 AMG Line Auto and the far more powerful 45 AMG 4Matic, but none of the models in between.

What's up with my Land Rover's stop-start?
Had my car's stop-start checked by Land Rover when it didn’t operate. They said it was the battery. They fitted a new heavy duty battery and the stop-start worked for about a week... It now only works with fan off. Could this be due the recent heat wave and use of the air conditioning? Very temperamental. Advise if possible.

My car has a sunstrip on the windscreen that was an NCT fail. The fail sheet said obstruction inside wiped area, so if I put on wipers that wipe up to just under the sunstrip will it still pass?

How best to get insurance after 10 years?
I have a full Irish licence, but have not driven in 10 years. However, my licence has no endorsements or bands; what is the best way to get the cheapest insurance or who is the best insurer to explain my case to? Any help would be much appreciated. I'm living in Dublin.
