Should I get my car checked by a garage before its NCT?
Are you meant to bring your car to a garage before your NCT to see if there's anything wrong with it or do you bring it for the NCT and then fix what needs to be fixed and resit the NCT?
Say if you brought it to the garage before would they check it for everything the way they would in the NCT or would they just check for what are the most popular reasons for failure? Because if that's the case wouldn't you be better to get the NCT first to see what's wrong if they do a more detail inspection?

Do I need a new part to fix my Skoda electrics?
Hi, the control unit / window motor in my 2002 Skoda Octavia 1.6 petrol seems to be dead. It's affecting the central locking and mirror adjustment etc. It's a minefield getting a seconhand replacement unit as it has to come from an identical car: ie has to have rear electric windows, no sunroof, electric mirrors etc. Am I better off just biting the bulletand stumping up for a new part from Skoda?
Thanks, Alan

What can I do about my dead Suzuki ECU?
Hi, I have a 2008 Suzuki SX4 1.6 DDiS. It would not start recently so I towed it to the garage. Eventually I have been told that the ECU is dead and needs a new one, which must be done in a Suzuki garage. I am waiting on a final price but have been told they are expensive. Is it worth trying to source a second hand or reconditioned one if they exist?

Should we go diesel or stick with petrol?
Hi guys, we're looking at upgrading my wife's car in the New Year. She currently has a 2006 1.4 Volkswagen Golf CL and we were thinking of another Golf, maybe a 2012 1.2 HL model. We live in Knocklyon and she works in Carrickmines so we're thinking, would it be worth considering diesel?
