The first ever Phantom prototype from Rolls-Royce is coming up for sale at a London auction in June.
Built in 1926 for Rolls' Managing Director, Claude Johnson, the car was codenamed 10EX and has "torpedo" bodywork made by British coachbuilder Barker. Better known as the "CJ Sportscar", after its first owner, 10EX was designed as an experimental lightweight Rolls-Royce with lowered steering column and lighter bodywork.
The car was held onto by the factory for six years after it was built and is reported to have been loaned to Laurence of Arabia in this time.
When this Rolls-Royce Phantom 1 comes up for auction at the Salon Privé on June 23 in London, it is expected to fetch between €450,000 and €900,000.
