Lamborghini and the genii at Lego have teamed up once again, to create another Technic masterpiece from the Danish toymaker: this is the Lego Lamborghini Sian.
Head-spinning brick count
This Technic 1:8-scale Sian model eclipses even the Bugatti Chiron kit which Lego put out in 2018, that car requiring 3,599 bricks to make it up. The Sian FKP 37, though, is made up of 3,696 and results in a spectacular model of the hybrid hypercar from the Italians.
Everything you'd expect of a Lego Technic model is present for this Lambo. With the real thing powered by a V12 motor, the Lego version has a little replica of the powerplant, as well as the full-sized Sian's moveable rear spoiler, trademark scissor doors, eight-speed sequential gearbox with paddle shifts, and Automobili Lamborghini badges. Full suspension and a working steering system complete the kit, which is rendered in a vivid lime green with golden wheels - a combination you could have on the real Sian, if you had the money. Fully built, the Lego Technic Lamborghini Sian is 12cm tall, 60cm long and 25cm wide.
Two icons come together
Stefano Domenicali, chairman and CEO of Lamborghini, said: "The Lego brick is an icon in the same way as a Lamborghini super-sports car. They both embody the pursuit of design perfection through constant research and development, create different emotions with every interaction, and are valued by generations. Each Lamborghini super-sports car can be unique thanks to our Ad Personam personalisation programme and the specific driving style of each owner, just as Lego bricks provide builders of all ages with endless possibilities for creation. This outstanding replica of the Lamborghini Sian FKP 37 from the Lego Group presents a brilliant new building experience for both super-sports car fans and Lego enthusiasts, and Lamborghini is privileged to share this opportunity with the Lego Group."
Niels B. Christiansen, Lego's CEO, added: "This new model truly encapsulates the pursuit of excellence embedded in the DNA of both Automobili Lamborghini and the Lego Group. Both the 1:8 model and the reveal itself are feats of engineering innovation, pulled off by incredibly talented teams from across our two businesses. The Lego Technic Lamborghini Sian FKP 37 is a true testament that with Lego Technic, you can build anything your heart desires. I can't wait to build this authentic replica of this futuristic super-sports car for real."
Like the Chiron kit, there's even bespoke luggage for the Lego Lamborghini and a unique serial number that unlocks special content online. Owners can also scan a QR code in the building instructions to access an exclusive series of videocasts by Lamborghini and Lego experts, looking at the real car and the Technic replica too. The Lego Technic Lamborghini Sian FKP 37 comes in a unique box inspired by the car's design lines, its headlight silhouette and the eye-catching colour, and is available from Lego direct from June 1. Other retailers will get their hands on it from August 1, 2020.
