The BMW 328 Hommage was unveiled at the 2011 Villa D-Este to pay tribute to one of the company's most iconic models, the 328.
BMW's original 328 model was presented in 1936 and was a serious competitor at Europe's most important racing events.
The 328 Hommage follows the basic design principles of the original with its open cockpit, asymmetrical, short windscreen, lack of doors and various other, small-detail features, such as the leather straps across the bonnet, the high-gloss aluminium safety buckles, the four-point seat belts, the integrated racing cross on the headlights and - most importantly - the separated interior for driver and co-driver.
The asymmetrical feature continues on the bonnet, too, as well as the windscreens extended into the interior to create an even more authentic atmosphere. Authenticity is expanded by the materials used, with the leather applied on the interior. This is contrasted by carbon fibre and technical gadgets such as housings for iPhones. Two iPhones are fitted in the car serving as a means of GPS road books or lap timers.
