Following last week's story on the Aston Martin V12 Zagato, visitors to the Concorso D'Eleganza voted it the winner in the Concept Cars and Prototypes class, leading to hopes that Aston Martin will release a road going version.
Dr Ulrich Bez, Chief Executive of Aston Martin said: "Based on the reactions of our customers to this race car, we hope to offer a road-homologated Zagato in a small, limited number."
Held on the shores of Lake Como, the Concorso D'Eleganza was the venue for the unveiling of the modern interpretation of the classic DB4GT Zagato, which generated huge interest from both visitors and customers.
Dr Bez is now looking forward to taking the car to the Nürburgring, where it will have its racing debut on the 28th May in the ADAC ACAS H&R-Cup VLN race. He will lead a driver team that will eventually race two V12 Zagato cars at the Nürburgring 24-hour race on 25/26 June.
"Nürburgring is where we sign-off every new model in terms of dynamics," he said, "and there can be no better place for the new V12 Zagato to be finally tested. The 24-hour race is the ultimate road test and a fitting introduction for the Zagato."
