Sportier new-gen Hyundai Tucson looks sharp.

Right, well we already knew that the incoming new Hyundai Tucson was going to be a pretty sharp looking machine - possibly the best-looking Hyundai yet made. Well, now Hyundai has taken the tailor's scissors to the Tucson's suit to make look a little bit sharper - welcome to the Tucson N-Line.

Distinctive design

Hyundai says that the N-Line Tucson will: "Offer aggressive and distinctive exterior design features and differentiating interior details. Unique equipment and colour selections are also planned for production models" and that it's been "designed for customers who are looking for an even more dynamic design and driving experience."

Not a high-performance model

Aaaaaaand... that's about it on the detail front for now. Of course, the N-Line won't be mechanically different to the standard Tucson, it's a styling job - analogous to Ford's ST-Line or Peugeot's GT-Line - which makes it look rather sportier. There won't be a seriously hot Tucson N performance model, at least not at first.

We do know that the dramatic styling remains - with headlights hidden in the radiator grille styling, plus heavy side surface detailing and a very sharply-drawn rear end. Inside the cabin styling has been pared right back, and it's centred around two big screens; one for infotainment, one for instruments.

Mild-hybrid, hybrid and plug-in hybrid

Engines will include a basic 1.6 petrol and then the rest are either mild-hybrids, hybrids, or a full-on plug-in hybrid.

Prices for the new Tucson start from €32,495, while the most affordable hybrid version is currently priced at €35,995. Hyundai Ireland has not yet set prices for the N-Line version. Going on the basis of the current model, the N-Line version should cost in and around €750 to €1,000 more than a standard Tucson.
