So, you're keen on the idea of a new Skoda Enyaq iV electric SUV? Of course you are - given Skoda's rampant success in the Irish market, and the desire for all things EV, that's hardly surprising. With the Enyaq arriving into Irish dealerships next June, we're expecting big things from Skoda's first all-battery model to arrive in Ireland (we never got the sweet little Citigo iV, alas).
Only 350 Enyaqs for Ireland in 2020
However, if you want to get one, you'd better be prepared to be both quick, and stuff some deposit cash into an envelope marked 'Nice Local Skoda Dealer Pretty Please.'
Actually, that's not quite how this will work, but with only 350 Enyaqs allocated by Skoda for the Irish market next year, demand is quite likely to outstrip supply, and Skoda Ireland is encouraging prospective buyers to get busy with the deposit making.
Deposits being taken from 26th November
Starting next Thursday, the 26th of November, at 9am, Skoda's virtual order books for the Enyaq will open, and if you get into the queue pretty quickly, with a €1,000 deposit, your name could be put next to one of those 350 Enyaqs.
Now, Skoda's keen to stress that these are refundable deposits and that they'll be returned to you whether you're successful in snagging an Enyaq or not. Everything's being done on a first-come, first-served basis, though.
Very excited
Commenting on the Enyaq iV process, Ray Leddy, Head of Marketing and Product, Skoda Ireland, said: "We are very excited about the imminent arrival of the Skoda Enyaq iV. In the past Skoda has had challenges delivering sufficient volumes of product due to excessive demand. Most recently, with the new Octavia and before this the Kodiaq. With Skoda showrooms closed due to Covid-19 restrictions and many of our customers preferring to shop online, it makes sense to launch this initiative at this time. Skoda Enyaq iV price and specification information is now available on our website so customers can research the product before paying a deposit. I would like to thank Volkswagen Financial Services, who are supporting us by providing a safe online environment for our customer transactions."
